When Dustin and Suzie belted out The Neverending Story song duet in the Stranger Things 3 finale, we fell in love with the entire planet. We rewound the scene over and over, and sang along at the top of our lungs even though we didn’t really know the words. Here are the complete lyrics so you can rock out with us.
The Story Behind The Neverending Story Song
The theme song of the 1984 film The Neverending Story shares the same name, and was originally performed by English pop star Limahl who was the one-time lead singer of ’80s pop group Kajagoogoo. The song fades in at the beginning and fades out at the end to give the illusion of being a neverending song. (Clever, right?)
While extremely catchy, we far prefer Dustin & Suzie’s rendition over Limahl’s, which takes itself a bit too seriously. Suzie’s enthusiastic arm raise, mimicking the movie’s star Bastian when he was riding his dog-dragon thing is one of our favorite scenes ever. Sadly, we are not as in love with the inexplicable hairy dragon-puppy-monster or the original movie. The ’80s hit did not age well, the effects are not great, but the story is, so we highly recommend the book instead.
Here’s the Dustin & Suzie duet, along with the full lyrics:
“Neverending Story” Full Lyrics
Turn around
Look at what you see
In her face
The mirror of your dreams
Make believe I’m everywhere
Given in the light
Written on the pages
Is the answer to a neverending story
Ahahah ahahah ahahah…
Neverending story
Ahahah ahahah ahahah…
Reach the stars
Fly a fantasy
Dream a dream
And what you see will be
Rhymes that keep their secrets
Will unfold behind the clouds
And there upon a rainbow
Is the answer to a neverending story
Ahahah ahahah ahahah…
Never ending story
Ahahah ahahah ahahah…
Story
Ahahah ahahah…
And because we love Lucas & Max and their rendition just as much, here’s that scene as well:
