When Netflix debuted this comic book TV series adaptation, we weren’t sure we’d love it. We liked the comics, but they’re dark. Really dark. Thankfully, the TV series creators did an amazing job translating the original work into a seriously fun series. Here are the top 5 reasons we definitely recommend the show and can’t wait for the next season!
#1 – The First Scene
We were sucked in from the first scene. Great storytelling set-up. Women all over the world mysteriously got pregnant and had a baby on the same day and this wacky guy adopted them all and trained them to be superheroes. Sign us up!
#2 – A Killer Soundtrack
The series has amazing music, most of which we’d never heard and had to download immediately. It perfectly underscores the scenes and makes them all the more fun to watch. Some of our faves: Shingaling by Tom Swoon, Soul Kitchen by The Doors, and Hazy Shade of Winter by Gerard Way.
#3 – The Dance Scene from Episode 1
There is really nothing better than the super kids back in their childhood house for the first time and all dancing awkwardly, on their own, to the cheesy Tiffany song “I Think We’re Alone Now.” So good!
#4 – Klaus. Everything Klaus.
Robert Sheehan does an incredible job playing Klaus and we can’t get enough of him. He steals every scene he’s in. Every one.
#5 – The Cliffhanger
Just when we thought we’d figured everything out, the entire show goes and blows up on us. In the best possible way. We can’t wait for season 2!
If you haven’t caught it yet, here’s the phenomenal trailer for season 1. If it doesn’t hook you, we don’t know what will.
