We love Fandom tourism because it makes regular old trips into something special.
Want to get hyped for the upcoming “Hunger Games” prequel books? You can visit the real-life stand-in for District 12, complete with Katniss’ house and Peeta’s family bakery if you happen to be anywhere near the Asheville area in North Carolina. The scenes were filmed at the Henry River Mill Village, which had been a ghost town since the 1970s, but is being restored thanks to interest from the films.
You have to make a reservation and buy a ticket to visit, but in our mind, it’s well worth it. Visit the official Henry River Mill Village website for more details.
